Crashed three times on lap 4, otherwise a great run. You really can't afford to crash at all, otherwise you start seeing two CPU cars side by side all the time and the game gets way harder.

The final lap is a bitch. I have a feeling I will do better when I play it with a TAC-2.

    :!: :!: :!: !!!WARNING!!! :!: :!: :!:

I discovered that the original version has a serious bug:
    https://www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/Pole_Position#Bugs
No Qualifying Bonus: You never really get the qualifying bonus, no matter what the counter tells you.
    Example:
    buggggggg.gif
    buggggggg.gif (975.9 KiB) Viewed 618 times

On csdb I found a version that fixes this bug:
    https://csdb.dk/release/?id=153055
    or:
    http://www.elysium.filety.pl/tools/cart ... olepos.zip

so what version do we use? bugged or fixed?

Weird, I used the original cartridge version from GBC v19 and the bonus worked correctly. I'd say we use the fixed one. Max score after qualifying should be 14000.

For anyone who wants to check out a different version - here is the 1987 Thunder Mountain release as found on the c64 preservation project.

    http://breakingnewsfeeds.com/media/pole-position.g64

I haven't been able to complete a race yet, but there is no bonus bug on the qualification lap.

There is no reference to Atari in this version, so the race name for the highest difficulty is actually the Miami Grand Prix.

I have used this cartridge version which seems perfect (no qualification bonus bug):

I use the crt-version from the One Load collection, that's also fine. I love this game. Remember braking is just as important as speeding.

Had a perfect run until halfway through the 4th lap, then after 1 crash, for the remainder of the race I was stuck behind a car where I never had room to get around it.
